CEO’s Secret Weapon
The CEO’s Secret Weapon was created specifically for MentorBusiness.com following a personal invitation to bring my performance work into a global community of CEOs and business owners looking for something beyond the usual conversations about working harder, doing more and finding another strategy to somehow fit into an already overloaded life. For over 20 years my work has been shaped in environments where results matter, with processes developed, tested and refined alongside World and Olympic Champions then applied with CEOs, entrepreneurs and multi million dollar business owners facing many of the same pressures in a very different arena.
The more time I have spent in both worlds, the more I have recognised how closely elite sport and business now resemble each other. Today’s professional athlete may be managing sponsors, commercial partnerships, media commitments, social communities, collaborations, merchandise and a valuable personal brand while still preparing their mind and body to perform when the result becomes public. A CEO may be carrying employees, customers, finances, opportunities, decisions and the future of an organisation while trying to remain present for a family and somehow find enough space left for themselves. The environments look different, yet underneath all of that responsibility sits the same human mind trying to perform under pressure without becoming consumed by it.
That observation is really where the CEO’s Secret Weapon begins, because this is not business coaching and it is not life coaching. It is an opportunity to look at business performance through a completely different lens by understanding what the world’s best athletes have already discovered about human performance then exploring what happens when those principles are applied to the person running the business. An elite athlete eventually learns that continually adding more training does not continually create better performance. There is a point where another session reduces the quality of the next one, which is why recovery, stopping, resetting and creating space are not rewards for completing the work. They are part of the work because the quality of the next performance depends enormously on what happens between performances.
Business has traditionally rewarded almost the opposite behaviour. When the pressure increases we tend to add more hours, more meetings, more thinking and more effort, even when the person making the important decisions is becoming increasingly tired, distracted and mentally crowded. It is easy to mistake that activity for performance because being busy feels productive, yet some of the most important decisions in business rarely appear when the mind is being forced to produce them. They appear when there is enough space for the noise to settle and enough energy available to recognise what was sitting underneath it.
This is where some of the paradigms throughout the CEO’s Secret Weapon may initially feel very different. Working slower at the right moment can allow you to move faster when it matters. Doing less can increase the quality of what you actually do. Switching off can become one of the most productive things you contribute to your business because you return with a mind capable of seeing opportunities, solving problems and making decisions that exhaustion may have hidden from you. Rather than continually asking how much more you can fit into the day, we begin looking at how effectively you are using the mind and energy you already have.
Even goal setting starts somewhere different because we work on the person before we work on the business. If you become clearer about the life you are creating, the way you want to feel and the person you want to become, business goals begin to have context rather than simply becoming another target demanding more from you. Motivation becomes easier when there is genuine direction behind the effort, while focus becomes far more powerful when you know what deserves your attention and what no longer does. The intention is never simply to work fewer hours. It is to become so much more effective during the hours that matter that exhaustion no longer needs to be evidence of your commitment.
That is the performance philosophy behind the CEO’s Secret Weapon and why this particular 5 part program was created exclusively for MentorBusiness.com. It is the only platform where the program itself can be accessed, although choosing it does not mean our relationship ends when you arrive there. Once you join the CEO’s Secret Weapon through MentorBusiness, I will personally invite you into my Support Community within the Elite Mindset Institute so you can remain connected with me while you work through the ideas, ask questions as they arise and receive support as you begin applying them to the realities of your own business and life.
Ultimately, I want you to receive far more from your investment than access to another collection of videos. I want you to experience what can happen when the person responsible for creating the results begins receiving the same attention as the results themselves, because that is one of the lessons elite sport has reinforced for me again and again over the past 20 years. When we look after the performer, create clarity around where they are going and give their mind enough space to operate at its best, performance has a remarkable way of following.
Stuart Walter.
